Wallingford Castle Chapter No. 1165

The Wallingford Castle Chapter Rose Croix was formally consecrated at Sindlesham Masonic Centre on Tuesday 2^nd November 2004. This was followed by the first Chapter meeting, on Saturday 20^th November 2004 at Wallingford Masonic Centre. It is the most recently formed of the 9 Chapters in Berkshire.

As part of the Ancient and Accepted Rite, conferring the 18^th Degree, known as Knights Rose Croix, the Chapter focuses on the philosophical and spiritual teachings of Freemasonry, emphasizing virtues such as faith, hope, charity, and the pursuit of truth and wisdom. Ceremonies are based on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth with particular reference made to the New Testament.

The Chapter meets on the third Saturday of January, March and November, with the Enthronement held in the November meeting. Meetings are all held at the Wallingford Masonic Centre.

As the meetings are held on Saturday evenings it has proved popular with members that find attending Masonic events difficult due to work commitments during the week.

Whilst striving to maintain a high level of ritual in the meetings, the Chapter also promotes a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere in both the meetings and dining afterwards.

The usual dress for our meetings is the traditional dark suit, but members take a more liberal approach to other items such as ties, waistcoats etc. All members wear collars indicating their degree, but not aprons.

The Chapter is known for its very supportive attitude and its warm and inclusive nature.
