Foundation and History
The St Cecilia Rose Croix Chapter No. 811 is the sixth of nine Berkshire Rose Croix Chapters. Its Consecration Ceremony took place at the Berkshire Masonic Centre, Sindlesham, on Wednesday, 17 November 1976.
St Cecilia is the patron saint of music. To commemorate the foundation, a true and complete peal of 5,039 changes of Grandsire Caters was rung at St Alphege Parish Church, Solihull, conducted by one of the founding members, W. Bro Frank Courtenay Price.
Purpose and Activities
The St Cecilia Rose Croix Chapter is part of the Ancient and Accepted Rite, conferring the 18th Degree, known as Knight Rose Croix. The Chapter focuses on the philosophical and spiritual teachings of Freemasonry, emphasizing virtues such as faith, hope, charity, and the pursuit of truth and wisdom.
Meetings typically include ceremonies, lectures, and social gatherings. The Chapter is known for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to brotherly love, tolerance, and personal growth.
Membership and Leadership
Membership is open to qualified Freemasons. The Chapter has a history of distinguished members and officers, with roles including Most Wise Sovereign, Prelate, Treasurer, Recorder, Director of Ceremonies, Almoner, Marshal, and others.
Traditions and Distinctive Features
Dress Code:
Members wear a red collar, not aprons or gloves as in Craft Masonry. The dress code is a dark suit, but not black tie.
Ceremonial Focus:
The Chapter places a strong emphasis on ritual, symbolism, and the moral lessons of the Rose Croix degree.
Community:
The Chapter is known for its supportive and inclusive environment, encouraging members to participate in both ritual and social aspects of Chapter life.

Meetings are held on the third Monday in February, the first Friday in September, and the first Friday in December.
Enthronement is held at the February meeting.
